Take a peek in our quilt Gallery for quilts from Sara in Abu Dhabi (YES!! Abu Dhabi!) , Sonja in North Carolina, who made up her own design, Teacher Jamie in Alabama, and Teacher Jenny in Surrey, England. Thank you SO MUCH for letting me see and share your quilt photos 🙂
Quilt As You Go
What’s Your Favorite Decorative Stitch?
It sometimes seems like I spend more time daydreaming over my decorative stitches than I do actually using them – and I use them a LOT! No matter what quilt I am making, I tend to come back to using a few stitches regularly. Here’s one of my favorites – if you looked closely you would find it used more than once on most of my quilts 🙂
What is your favorite stitch? Satin stitch? Flowers? My friend Sandra has a “crowns” stitch that I am very envious of – my machine doesn’t have that one!
Big Ruler is On Sale
Hi Quilters, if you have put off buying the big 20 1/2″ ruler but you are sure you are going to make another Crazy Shortcut Quilt, now’s the time to go get it. I paid almost $50 for mine, but they are on sale [online at JoAnn’s] for $19.99. I am thinking about buying two more! I just love these rulers and use them on all of my quilts, not just our crazy shortcut ones.
Happy quilting! Marguerita
Meet Katrina
She is a Crazy Shortcut Quilts teacher and she has some of her student’s quilt posted on her blog as well as a few other gorgeous quilts! Take a peek …..
Awesome Amy!
My friend Amy has posted another beautiful Crazy Shortcut Quilt on her blog. Take a peek!
Meet Wendy….
…and her Crazy Shortcut Quilt 🙂
I love those colors, they remind me of spring. I love how she says her backing reminds her of watermelon!
T-Shirt Quilts and more :)
I love quilt stories and Judy sent me hers:

Here are pictures of the two quilts I made using your quilting method with tee shirts that club members gave me. The two pictures with the yellow corvette in the center is the one Bob won and we donated to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. The other is also made by your method and won by a club member. I made these two quilts an three afghans, which we raffled off at our club picnic. We raised $245. that day and Bob, husband, added another $5. The club matched the money and we donated $500. to our local Ronald McDonald House in Danville, PA. Your method worked very well for this project and everyone loved the quilts. If you happen to get to Bowling Green and stop at the museum, I hope they have it displayed somewhere for you to see. If we ever get to Alaska, we’ll look you up! I’d love to meet you and your videos are great too by the way. Judy
I also added two quilts to the Gallery – one from Jan and one from Jennifer and both just gorgeous!
Teach Crazy Shortcut Quilt Classes in Your Town!
I really want to share our success with you, Crazy Shortcut quilters who enjoy making these quilts, and who would enjoy teaching this method in classes at your local quilt shops, community schools, sewing centers, guilds or privately.
I invite you to teach Crazy Shortcut Quilting! I’ve spent a major portion of the spring and summer taping video and writing a 45 page eBook about everything Sarah and I do when we are teaching and I’ve put it all together on one DVD and YOU are the first to have a chance to buy it, start teaching it in your town and make a little extra fabric money along the way 🙂
I want YOU to enjoy the same success that Sarah and I have enjoyed, and the thrill of teaching and helping others learn to quilt.
I am going about this in my own way too. This is not a professional “studio” taping – it’s done in my quilting studio and I am the writer, video camera operator, editor and packager and for that reason I can keep the price very reasonable – which is a major goal of mine. You can recoup the cost of the Teaching Kit and STILL make money in your very first class and every class thereafter is all YOUR money! There are no monthly membership fees, no licensing fees and no secret handshake.
There is, however, exclusive membership in my Teacher’s Group for each person who buys a Kit. This group is only for Crazy Shortcut Quilting Teachers and in it I will do every single thing I can to help you enjoy teaching success. You will have first access to all new designs, patterns and private videos showing how we make the patterns up and teach the process. If you have ever thought about teaching quilting, join me and I’ll hold your hand and help you all the way.
If you are already a quilting teacher and would like to add a super popular quilt class to your repertoire – buy the kit now and get it on your calendar asap!
If you are a quilt shop owner, you are going to love this Teaching Kit! Give it to your staff and let them take turns teaching it!
First Place!
Our dear friend Kathy Harte mentors young girls in their sewing. Here’s her email to me from just a few minutes ago:
Hi Marguerita and Sarah – I’m so excited about some great – exciting fantastic news ! ! ! I had 5 students last school year who completed their wildly beautiful “Crazy Shortcut Quilts.” Two of my girls just called to let me know….
Tyanna Baker took First Place, and Grand Champion in her age group (12 years old) for the king size quilt she made ! ! ! ! !
Christina Baker took 2nd place in the 9 year old category for her lap size quilt ! ! ! !
The girls’ Mom will e-mail pictures of the girls with their masterpieces, and I’ll forward those on to you….
AND….. I’ve got everything documented from start to finish on my computer… if you like, I’ll burn CDs for you so you can see what all the girls did using your book as our guide.
I’m soooooo proud of them and am doing the happy dance ! Just thought you’d like to know 🙂 YAY YAY YAY
Love to you both,
Kath
I am so excited for these girls – to have won recognition for their hard work really is so wonderful and for Kathy to see their success, well, that is the highest reward for a wonderful teacher!
