Your Way

I just watched a video of a quilter who insisted a quilting technique is bad and wrong and doesn’t make any sense.

BLEH. This “video quilt show wanna-be” has been quilting for just a couple of years, at best. I’ve been machine quilting, teaching, professionally quilting and been published for fifteen years – and I teach the technique that she disparages.

I sure wish the world were less filled with people who insist that their way is the only way and that everyone else is wrong.

I hope that you do things YOUR way and I know that I will be happy as I continue to do things MY way.

  1. That is why I no longer take my quilts to my local shop for help. I don’t make them for prize entry, but I am always told…you didn’t use a scant 1/4″, you didn’t turn your binding here or there, etc. I quilt because I enjoy it!
Please let your readers know I am having a great giveaway this month:

Oh I was re-visiting this idea yesterday again. I might even make a video. I am so unhappy about *some* people telling others “you are wrong”. I was brought up with MYOB. And in quilting, unless you are trying to please some judge somewhere (and why would you want to do that?) any quilt, ANY quilt, is a beautiful thing.

Thanks for your comment and your invite Jean, it is always great to hear from you!! I hope your new job is going wonderfully well!! Marguerita

  2. That’s why there is chocolate and vanilla, everybody’s way is right if that is what they like.
I feel the same way has you Margarite, I love what you do and love your book keep up the good work, I certainly will be doing it my way.

Hi Shirley! Good for you! Thank you for your note, it sure brightened my day 🙂

  3. Hi, Just now have been watching some of your videos. Thank you so much. People laugh when I tell them there are controversies in quilting. I had one woman turn her back on me mid-sentence when I admitted I machine quilted. What horror. I have given quilting a bad name. Bad me. My husband was honestly shocked.

    Thanks again.
